Lanice Wilson was introduced to juicing about five years ago by my daughter while visiting her in California. I immediately fell in love with it and subsequently became intrigued by foods that can be used as medicine. As soon as I returned from my trip, I introduced my sister and business partner, Renee Sellers, to juicing – she has an autoimmune disease; I knew juicing would benefit her tremendously.
Fast forward to January 2019, Renee and I were meeting over lunch (at the Riverfront). We meet every year in January to brainstorm ideas and discuss our vision boards for the new year. A juice bar was at the top of my vision board; so, I asked Renee if she would be interested in opening one. She said yes before I could finish asking her!
The Juice Joint opened its doors on July 17, 2020 right in the middle of a pandemic. People have asked us why we would open a business during such uncertain times. However, Renee and I continue to believe these uncertain times are even more reason for us to lean into what we know and believe, and that is the power of juicing.
